Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn on the bank of the Chao Phraya River, in the Thon Buri district of Bangkok. The temple is named after the Hindu god Aruna and is an architectural representation of Mt Meru, the center of all the physical, metaphysical and spiritual universes according to Hindu and Buddhist cosmology

The central Khmer-style prang, which is encrusted with colourful porcelain, 250 feet high.

Construction of the prangs began during the reign of King Rama II (1809-1824).
